Perspective
on Cultural Practices
A note from the grower
The fundamental
principal in our cultural practices is focused on creating
an environment of life promotion or enhancement for both
the orchids and personnel.
In the intial
stages of our orchid nursery, we utilized commercial formulations
of chemical fertilizers, insecticides and fungicides. It
was somewhere around 1986 that I attended an Organic Farming
Conference at Asilomar in California. The conference gave
me a basis and helped me to define some of the cultural
practices that we are constantly refining and incorporating
today.
Another body
of knowledge that has patterned some of the things we do
falls under the scope of traditional medicine and spa technology
applied to humans. The techniques we are encompassing are
thus a combination of healthful components that affect the
orchids, as well as our orchid care personnel, in a beneficial
way.
