Commercially grown
orchids for the flowering pot-plant market is a relatively
new industry with continued growth projected. Orchids represent
one of the largest family of living organisms. The diverse
range of expression in foliage and floral components continues
to provide startling new cultivars each season. For the commercial
grower this field offers many challenges as well as rewards.
Orchids are considered
one of the more complex floriculture plants to grow. The difficulty
stems from the diverse range of this group. This means that
all generas of orchids can not be lumped together and expected
to thrive under the same conditions. Also, unlike terrestials,
most orchids are epiphytes which require different media and
watering requirements. We have found that each genera has
it's own particulars, not to mention specifics within each
genera. So, to simplify we have divided each group and subdivided
some groups even further to relay what we have learned throughout
the years.

We consider
our approach to growing eco-friendly. Initially we employed
only chemical sprays and fertilizers, but through the
years have been transitioning toward a system of plant
management based on utilizing methods and compounds
that are pro-life. It certainly makes for a pleasant
work environment not to mention giving a natural glistening
quality to the orchid plants.
