What's New?

Otaara Haleahi Cubs
(Blc. Waianae Leopard x Ctna. Joy Bassin)

A blissful pack of baby blossoms with markings of a wild breed characterizes this group of new up-starts. A combination of Brassavola, Broughtonia, Laelia, and Cattleya make up the background of this new hybrid.

Blc. Waianae Leopard crossed to Ctna. Joy Bassin (Broughtonia sanguinea - C. amethystoglossa) has resulted in a very compact plant with spikes of variable blossoms. The contribution of the spots continues from both parents in varying degrees. Although Ctna. Joy Bassin may not exhibit any spotting, the background of C. amethystoglossa has the another opportunity to express itself.

The thick substance of Waianae Leopard prevails in many of the blossoms with the vibrant magenta of Ctna. Joy Bassin intensifying color of the spots on some of the progeny.

Both parents have a bounty of blossoms, held in roundish clusters and as the little ones mature we are seeing a greater show developing with larger clusters. It will probably take a number of years before these orchids reach specimen size to really get an idea of the showmanship of these Otaara Haleahi Cubs.

These are available in 4" pot as C1292
