A member of the cattleya alliance. The encyclia was formally classified as epidendrum, but has a distinctly different plant confirmation than reed-stem epidendrums. The encyclia has spherical bulbs topped with leaves, and produces spikes that carry clusters of long-lasting (e.g., 3 to 5 weeks), intricately-shaped, petite, sometimes fragrant flowers. The Encyclia has shown wide acceptance as a potted plant due to its compact body, longevity of flowers, blooming period, and the ease of shipping from spike-initiated stages to full bloom.

These orchid seedlings are grown in 98-cell trays with a minimum of 90 plants per tray. One variety per tray only. Average plant height ranges from 3 to 5 inches (or 7.5 to 12.5 centimeters). Minimum order is 1 tray. For our own production we transplant these to 3.5" square pots, but some people may prefer to transplant them into 2.25" pots.
The average growing to blooming time based on Hawaii conditions is 7 to 10 months.

Codes starting with "M" are mericlones. All others are hybrids (i.e., produced by seed). Descriptions for hybrids indicate the general outcome of crossing. Variations may occur.
